Many years ago when living in Canada, we thought the concept of a 24 hour news channel absolutely fantastic – fast forward 30 years and to be perfectly honest the constant bombardment of information, questioning and opinion is about as helpful as a chocolate tea pot.
Here at WavelengthHQ we spent the first few weeks of the current situation quite literally absorbing everything – of course wanting to keep ahead of the coming storm. In truth, it did us no real good.
While the media is vital at this time, they understandably drift towards their own spin, which may well differ a little from the last interview or set of stats you soaked up.
Although not quite a news black out, we have now stopped the constant stream of information right across the board be it articles, opinions (who knew so many Facebook friends were experts in Pandemics!) and those 24 hour channels. Yes, we access the day, those heart wrenching numbers, the plans and predictions, however we do it in such a way that it doesn’t create excessive stress and fear (it does, but we are better prepared).
Bringing this back round to a business perspective, we believe that dealing with the facts are important here. Here say, interpretation and rumour help no one from the business owner doing the right thing to the job hunter facing nothing but what seems like a brick wall.
We have found this to be a good entry point when it comes to our line of work – take a look, get the facts not the fiction from your Facebook friends.
